Joseph O’Keefe
Raised in Fresno, Joe graduated from Hoover High School and then Fresno State, where he majored in journalism and business. He was then recruited to the firm of Cole and Fisher, where he worked as a workers’ compensation legal assistant.
While earning his Eagle Scout as a young man, Joe became interested in the practice of law. He decided to pursue a law degree, which he earned at San Joaquin College of Law, graduating with distinction.

Rachel Gonzalez Mahoney
Our firm’s newest associate, Rachel Gonzalez Mahoney, marks a milestone in our firm’s history, as well as that of the Fresno law community — adding a third generation to Cole Fisher Cole & O'Keefe. Since as early as she can recall, Rachel wanted to practice law just like her mother, Leah Cole, and grandfather, Curtis Cole. “I can’t remember ever wanting to be anything but an attorney,” she states. Rachel’s entry into the firm was, by no means, a gift handed down, but the result of hard work and devotion to her studies.

Rachel Gonzalez Mahoney

A graduate of San Joaquin Memorial High School, Rachel obtained her B.A. degree from U.C. Santa Barbara and proceeded to San Joaquin College of Law, where she excelled and represented the school in a state-wide moot court competition. During her last two years of school, Rachel clerked at our firm, participating in depositions, settlement conferences and legal writing – lots of legal writing! This experience allowed Rachel to hit the ground running. If fact, only weeks after being sworn in as an attorney, she tried (and won) her first case. Rachel has been elected for this term as the Vice President of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), an organization of attorneys who represent those injured at work.
Rachel and her husband, Michael, have chosen to keep Fresno as their home and to raise their family here. Rachel is well on her way to completing the tasks necessary to become a certified specialist in workers’ compensation law.
