Workers’ Compensation Death Claims
Unfortunately, it is all too common that workers are killed as a result of injuries at work or as a result of diseases caused by work. If a friend or a loved one has died, and you believe it may be related to an incident at work or due to some disease caused by the work, benefits may be obtained for dependents of the injured worker. Depending on the facts, awards of several hundred thousand dollars may be obtained, but only if you act quickly.
Death benefits include burial expenses, up to $5,000 for dates of injury prior to 2013, and up to $10,000 for dates of injury 2013 and later, as well as monetary awards. If death benefits are owed to a totally dependent child, they continue until the child is 18; if the child is physically or mentally incapacitated, benefits (FAQ) continue until the child’s death.
